STEP 1.

Browse

Join a number of live auctions over the course of the year, all presenting unique collecting opportunities via our saleroom or at a number of prestigious off-site venues.

We go to great lengths to ensure that our lots are clearly described and photographed, but we also encourage any independent inspection or request for condition reports. Printed catalogues are available for our larger auctions - they can be collected from our saleroom or mailed to you on request. Our salerooms are always open for viewing in person before each auction, you are very welcome to come along, have a browse in person and ask questions before you bid.

STEP 2.

Register

The next step is to register your details with us in preparation for auction day. Please allow plenty of time to complete your registration, we recommend that you register by 5pm on the day before the auction. We will require the following:

Name, address, telephone number and email

Two forms of identification:

  • A passport or photographic driving licence

  • A utility bill or document showing proof of name and address
(On occasion we may request a bank reference and/or deposit as a condition of completing your registration to bid)
The mornings of auctions are often very busy, so we advise to register well in advance of the start time so you can settle in before the auction commences

STEP 3.

Bid

Being in the saleroom in person is the best way to experience the excitement of auction day, however our online bidding technologies enables buyers to participate from anywhere in the world. You can bid with ease in the following ways:

In person - Having completed registration a day before the auction, you will find your paddle waiting at the saleroom for you to collect.

Leave a bid in advance - Contact our offices to leave an absentee bid, specifying your maximum bid amount ahead of sale day. We will bid on your behalf to the next bidding increment above the competing underbidder.

Bid by telephone - Request to receive a call from the saleroom during the auction, and bid by proxy. We will call you during the auction to take your bid.

Bid online - Join the sale online at doreandrees.com or via our third party platforms easyliveaution.com or the-saleroom.com (charges can be found under the Auction Info button on each auction catalogue page).

STEP 4.

Pay

If you are successful in winning the lot, you will be provided with an invoice including all relevant charges and payment details. A buyer’s premium of 12%+vat is charged for cars, for motorcycles the premium is 14%+vat, and for Automobilia it is 20%+vat. For artworks further charges may apply such as Artists Resale Royalty which you will find on the catalogue entry and Terms and Conditions of Sale.

Payment can be made by bank transfer, by ‘pay by link’ upon request or by debit card in person at our auction salerooms. We ask that payment is made immediately following the auction.

STEP 5.

Ship or Collect

Upon completion of payment, you can collect and enjoy your lot. As we don’t normally offer storage of sold lots, all collectibles are to be paid for and collected within 5 days of the auction. For vehicle auctions as we take tenancies on off-site venues, purchased Lots will need to be moved usually by midday on the first working day after the sale. We can recommend reputable shippers who can assist with the collection and transportation of your purchase.
