Collector, racer, and above all enthusiast, Ian Wade has collected both very significant racing cars and related memorabilia over several decades.

Ian Wade, the Hong Kong based Yorkshire businessman, spent around 50 years amassing an enviable collection of road and race cars, as well one of the largest collections of automobilia in the world. From an early age Ian was captivated by the motor car. In the 1950s, like so many schoolboys of that era, his heroes were Stirling Moss and Juan Manuel Fangio. Able to indulge his hobby through his successful career in corporate management across the globe, Ian’s collection expanded rapidly and included many sublime road cars and classic racing cars which were regularly seen at Goodwood and other historic events across the world.

Ian decided some time ago to start reducing his wide and eclectic accumulation of classic cars and automotive pictures, models, books and other ephemera, entrusting this to Nick Wells of Dore & Rees Motoring, following the building of a successful relationship over the last few years.

Ian believes that there is ‘something for everyone’ in the sale, confident that fellow enthusiasts will become the new custodians of many items from his lifelong passion.

With much of the collection coming to market for the first time in decades, this is set to be a special day for historic racing enthusiasts.
